For people living with chronic brain conditions, and for those looking to age well, finding meaningful and personalized wellness options can be difficult. The BC Brain Wellness Program exists to fill this gap, offering participants and their care partners a place to move and connect, no matter what their diagnosis is.
For Bill, who lives with Parkinson’s disease, the program has become a lifeline.
“The BC Brain Wellness Program makes a huge difference for people like me,” he says. “It’s been such a positive experience both physically and socially, as I look forward to the classes every week. Anyone who can, should donate to this program which helps so many people.”
Since 2019, the program—offered through UBC’s Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health—has delivered free, accessible programming to thousands of people like Bill across the province, both in person and online. This incredible impact is only possible because of generous donors. On Giving Day, gifts to the BC Brain Wellness Program will directly support more than 25 classes, funding for Work Learn students and ongoing equipment upgrades.
“Our Program relies entirely on the generosity of donors,” says neurologist Dr. Silke Cresswell, Co-founder and Director of the BC Brain Wellness program and UBC Associate Professor.
“Initiatives like Giving Day allow us to offer a wide range of programming at no cost to participants, and we’re grateful to have community support.”
From yoga and strength training, to improv, book club and art classes, your support ensures the BC Brain Wellness Program can continue offering free, evidence-informed classes that change lives every day.
