UBC students are doing their part to flatten the curve, and this has meant quickly adapting to new learning realities and financial circumstances. The impact has been significant and immediate.
Both the President’s Emergency Student Fund for students in Vancouver, and the A.W. Hunt, QC Student Emergency Assistance Fund for students in the Okanagan, are available year-round for those who require temporary financial relief. These student emergency funds are available to both domestic and international students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
As UBC works to assist as many students as possible, we ask you to consider making a gift to help us respond to the increased demand. Your support will provide immediate assistance to UBC students in these challenging times, providing access to funds for various expenses, such as housing, food and travel needs. Earlier in April, UBC’s student societies (AMS, UBCSUO & GSS) recognized the immense need and committed $2million to this fund. But, the need continues to grow.
Many students are now facing financial difficulties that they could never have anticipated. Students, like many others, are looking at situations such as loss of part-time jobs, adjusting home resources to accommodate online learning, and unplanned trips home.
