Since 2006, the Minds and Music series has paired exceptional performances with accessible, informal conversations that explore the music’s history, meaning and relevance today. These talks invite audiences to go beyond listening, encouraging reflection and dialogue that connect music to contemporary ideas, cultural context, and lived experience.
Created with students in mind and open to the wider community, Minds and Music removes barriers to participation in the arts. Students are exposed to professional musicians and new ways of thinking beyond the classroom, while community members are welcomed onto campus to share in a vibrant cultural experience. By presenting local, national, and international artists, the series reinforces UBC Okanagan’s role as a cultural and intellectual hub for the region.
Your gift to the Minds and Music fund supports future performances and continuing music education on campus. Philanthropic support ensures the series can attract outstanding artists and sustain high-quality programming, while remaining free and accessible to all.
Universities do more than prepare students for careers—they help shape thoughtful, engaged citizens. By supporting Minds and Music, you are investing in creativity, curiosity and connection, and helping ensure the arts remain a vital part of campus life and a thriving society.
