Message from Heather

Heather McCaw, Vice-President, DAE

As we wrap up this edition, I want to take a moment to recognize the profound impact you have as donors. You may not know it, but you are the “definition of meaningful change.” This is how Lara Albahadeli, a UBC student featured above, describes the donors who have helped her pursue her goal of becoming an international human rights lawyer. Like Lara, many students express how the generosity of donors has dramatically changed their lives.

UBC researchers, too, attribute their breakthroughs to the invaluable support they receive from donors like you. I am honoured to have shared some of the inspiring stories that your support has made possible—stories that span from easing a grieving family’s transition from Iraq to Canada, to transforming healthcare, and helping wildlife thrive in a human-altered world. These narratives are rich with personal triumphs, challenges, and hope.

Thank you for being a vital part of the UBC community and for joining in our commitment to tackle some of the world’s most urgent problems. Your support is invaluable, and together, we are making a difference!
