About Christina Lim Huckvale
Christina Lim Huckvale was a student in Metals and Materials Engineering at UBC. She was about to start her fourth year when her life was tragically cut short in a hiking accident near Kitimat on August 25, 2002.
Born in Vancouver on September 2, 1981, Christina graduated from Magee High School in 1999. She excelled in her studies and in music, and exemplified all that is best about youth. She was an excellent snowboarder, a member of a dragon boat team, and enjoyed hiking, camping, travel and playing the French horn in a brass band. In short, Christina enjoyed life. She is survived by her parents Cuthbert and Pacita, and her brother, William.
Christina was a leader amongst UBC engineering students and was elected secretary in her second year. She loved UBC and was active in numerous activities in the engineering department. She was vivacious, bright, beautiful and a joy. Christina will always be remembered for her kindness, sense of spirit, leadership, wit, talent and intelligence.
The impact of your support
The Christina Lim Huckvale Memorial Scholarship was created by family and friends at UBC as a tribute to Christina’s life and remarkable spirit. The scholarship is awarded to an outstanding engineering student, with preference given to female students in their third or fourth year.
Scholarships can make a big difference for students, recognizing them for their abilities and achievements, while supporting them to achieve their full potential. Your gift will support and honour students who share Christina’s passion for life and learning as well as her involvement in extracurricular and volunteer activities.
