David K. Sam was a UBC alumnus. David immigrated to Canada in his early childhood and spent his formative years in the Vancouver school system, before going on to attend UBC. He graduated in Commerce in 1982, specializing in Finance. Upon graduation, David began a lifelong career at the Toronto Dominion Bank. He was a humble, kind and gentle soul who was beloved by all who knew him.

In honour of David’s life, the David K. Sam Memorial Fund has been established at UBC. David was always grateful for having been given the opportunity to do well, having come to Canada as an immigrant with few resources. It was always in David’s heart to help others, especially young people who need what he called a “hand up, not a hand out.” Your gift will pay tribute to David by supporting a UBC student in financial need.
