About Kieran Johnson
Kieran Jeffrey Michael Johnson was a vibrant, passionate, intelligent, kind and funny man. His brilliant and inquisitive mind, paired with an impressive work ethic, led him to excel in a variety of fields. From crafting culinary delights in fine dining, breakfast bistros and wood-fired pizza kitchens, to working with moving companies across BC and the South Island, to crewing with the Canadian Coast Guard on the West Coast and in the Arctic, Kieran lived a life of adventure and purpose.
He found joy in fishing, camping, working on trucks and sharing meals with the people he loved. Being the life of every party, Kieran’s razor-sharp wit was matched only by his megawatt smile and huge heart. A beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, Kieran touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
Kieran died by suicide in March 2021 at the age of 26. Known for never saying no when someone needed help and turning every handshake into a hug, his loss continues to be deeply felt. Each year, near his birthday on December 15, friends and family gather to celebrate his memory and share stories, laughter and love.
This year marks what would have been Kieran’s 30th birthday. To honour his kind, generous and caring spirit, we invite those who loved Kieran to support HeadsUpGuys, a program dedicated to men’s mental health and suicide prevention. Supporting this cause feels like a meaningful way to reflect Kieran’s bright light back into the world.
