About Nick Udovicic
Nick Udovicic was a devoted husband and proud father of two girls, but he was also so much more: a teammate, a firefighter and a man whose energy and determination left a mark on everyone who knew him.
Hockey was one of Nick’s first loves. From the rink to the locker room, he carried the spirit of competition and camaraderie that defined him when he played in the NCAA, CHL, and LNAH leagues. That same drive and loyalty followed him into his career as a firefighter with the Burnaby Fire Department, where courage, service and teamwork became part of his everyday life. Whether on the ice or in the firehall, Nick gave his all, showing up for those beside him with strength and heart.
Yet even the strongest among us can suffer from silent battles. Nick’s passing is a powerful reminder of the need to support men everywhere—athletes, first responders, veterans, fathers, sons, friends—anybody carrying loads that often remain unseen.
The Impact of your support
In honour of Nick’s life, the family and friends of Nick previously directed gifts to support men’s mental health initiatives at UBC. This memorial page is now closed to new donations. Thank you to all who contributed in Nick’s memory.
