The UBC Faculty of Education is one of the leading faculties of education in the world. For over 60 years, the Faculty of Education has served the international education community through leadership in research, service, and advocacy.
As the largest Faculty of Education in British Columbia, it plays a critical and influential role in the advancement of education in the province, shaping and participating in education’s possibilities and potential as a social good.
Today, the Faculty creates conditions for transformative teaching, innovative learning, and leading-edge research guided by the highest standards of scholarship and the principles of collaboration, inclusion and equity. Offering undergraduate and graduate programs as well as professional development opportunities, the Faculty of Education enrolled 3,948 students in 2018 on the Point Grey Campus, including 1,792 graduate-level students. With this, it is easy to see why the Faculty of Education ranks within the top 20 faculties in the world, the top seven in North America and second in Canada.
With the Faculty’s Alumni exceeding 55,705 members, it doesn’t make it hard to believe that in British Columbia, more than 45% of the elementary teachers, the majority of secondary teachers, and a significant proportion of British Columbia’s special needs and First Nations teachers, counsellors, school administrators, school psychologists, and vocational rehabilitation counsellors, are prepared by the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia.

The Learn-and-Earn initiative brings together the Surrey School District, the Vancouver School District, and UBC’s Faculty of Education. Your support for the program will help Indigenous high school students start training to become educators as early as Grades 11 and Grade 12.
In honour of Dean Blye Frank’s lifelong research focusing on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Education, Dr. Robert Quartermain has established this graduate scholarship at UBC.
