About Harold Krivel
Harold Krivel passed away peacefully at his family home on March 3, 2012 at the age of 91. He was an esteemed and dedicated Paediatrician, a much loved teacher, husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and friend to many.
“Kriv,” as he was known to his friends, graduated from the University of Alberta in medicine, completed his paediatric training at Columbia University, and undertook post-graduate work at Harvard, before becoming a Pediatrician with B.C. Children’s Hospital and, later, a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UBC. Harold himself was committed to supporting UBC, establishing a student scholarship in memory of his wife, Rita Krivel.
Kriv’s happiest times were at his office, his cabin at Whistler or playing tennis and golf at the Richmond Country Club with his friends and family. He will be missed for many things, especially his love, unconditional support, wonderful advice and laughter.
