About Tanya Lindstrom

Tanya Lindstrom was a registered midwife, doula and childbirth educator whose warmth, knowledge and calm presence supported countless families across the Fraser Valley. She approached every birth with compassion and respect, empowering parents to feel confident and cared for throughout the experience.

Tanya began her birth-work journey in 2000 and went on to practise through Abbotsford Midwifery, Grow Midwifery and The Midwives. She was admired for her professionalism, advocacy for family-centred care and mentorship of students entering the field. Her deep belief in the balance of holistic health, modern medicine and intuitive wisdom guided her work and inspired those around her.

An adventurer at heart, Tanya found joy and strength in nature and often drew connections between the rhythms of the natural world and the power of birth. She faced breast cancer with extraordinary courage and grace, continuing to embody the resilience and generosity that defined her life.

Tanya’s legacy lives on through the students and families she inspired and through the continuing impact of her values: compassion, curiosity and a deep belief in the transformative power of care.

  • Tanya approached care for my family and I during pregnancy, delivery and postpartum with such incredible love and compassion. It was so incredibly clear that midwifery was her calling. I had a difficult delivery with my first child and some hard experiences with hospital staff during and in the days after our delivery. Once I was home I was hit by horrible anxiety, on top of some other complications. Tanya was a rock for us through all of it. Answering messages in the middle of the night, providing exemplary care for baby and me. As well as helping me advocate for myself with support outside her scope of care. As soon as I found out I was pregnant with my second baby I called Tanya, and her new(at the time) midwifery partner Kristi. I knew she would provide the same exemplary care, but she truly went above and beyond. When I went into labor on not only one of her nights off but also on a night when she was having a hard week at home with one of her beloved(and adorable) dogs. I expected only to have Kristi attend. I was surprised to find out Tanya had told Kristi that "please call me if Katrina goes into labor.". She attended my home birth with Kristi, and while Kristi took the lead she chatted, laughed and celebrated with us. She took photos and provided emotional support as she knew I was anxious after my first delivery. She went so far above and beyond. I cannot even begin to express how much that meant to us. Or how thankful our family is for the beautiful soul that Tanya was. For how much she cared for every single person who was under her care.
