Graduate Scholarship

Faculty of Land and Food Systems

Support the research of UBC's next generation of plant scientists.

All living things depend on the sustainability of the earth’s resources. By improving sustainable, managed agroecosystems, plant scientists are helping meet those needs.

The Faculty of Land and Food Systems has established an endowed scholarship for students in its Plant Science Graduate Program who are working on agricultural and/or horticultural topics. Students in the program are engaged in vital research related to plant production, plant protection, biotechnology, plant physiology and biochemistry, and plant-environment interactions.  These graduate students represent the future of plant research, and your support can help them realize their potential.

UBC’s next generation of plant scientists come with a strong sense of global responsibility with a passion for creating positive and lasting change. Their research discoveries have the potential to reach across borders for world-wide applications. Your support will inspire and foster their growth and passion for research that can help shape our future.

The Mahesh K. Upadhyaya Plant Science Graduate Scholarship is named after Mahesh Upadhyaya, Professor Emeritus in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems who has dedicated nearly four decades to teaching and research in plant science, earning numerous recognition for his contributions to the field.
