Jaelem Bhate, conductor & composer

Recently graduated UBC Master of Music student Jaelem Bhate has a promising career as a conductor and composer in both the classical and jazz genres—after an unexpected start in science.

Conductor, composer, and bandleader Jaelem Bhate completed his Master of Music degree at UBC in Orchestral Conducting in 2019. In his undergraduate years, he received the prestigious Wesbrook Award for academic achievement and leadership. In this podcast, we spoke with Jaelem Bhate about life after his Master’s, his switch from science into a career in music, and finding confidence in yourself.
