About Brett Kilb
Brett Kilb was one of the UBC Department of Orthopaedics’ finest residents. He was a man of character, integrity and resilience. Brett joined the program in 2012 and was in his fourth year, having completed a successful research year along the way, with a very promising career ahead of him. Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly at the age of 28 while pursuing his research in Barcelona, Spain. This has been a shock to everyone in the Department of Orthopaedics, as faculty, staff, residents and fellows alike.
Prior to coming to UBC for his residency, Brett was a two-time alumnus of the University of Calgary, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2009 as well as his MD in 2012. In 2015, he graduated with a Master’s Degree from Harvard University.
Brett had a very promising career. He won research awards, and was an excellent resident with a very bright future that was suddenly taken away. His memory lives on through his wife, parents and family.
