FORWARD for Students: International

No student should be denied an education solely because of financial constraints. International students at UBC often encounter many challenges, from facing financial pressures to adapting to a new culture and navigating a different educational system. To address these barriers, FORWARD for Students: International aims to support need-based international students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels across UBC’s campuses—particularly those who traditionally lack access to essential funding—ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

International Scholars Awards

The International Scholars Awards provide crucial funding to outstanding international students who face financial barriers to higher education. As part of the International Scholars Program, the awards recognize students with high academic achievement and exceptional leadership skills in school and community projects. Thanks to donor support, this program has already benefited over 500 of the best and brightest international scholars from more than 90 countries since 2001.

Affordability is the greatest challenge facing students today, limiting their access to the transformative opportunities higher education brings. The FORWARD for Students Fund addresses this issue by providing all students across UBC’s campuses with access to need-based awards and affordability programs and services.
