The Psychology Inclusive Excellence (PIE) Student Fund supports UBC Psychology students who have overcome historical, persistent, and/or systemic barriers to pursue academic excellence.
Your donation can help deserving undergraduate and graduate students access financial support and critical research experiences. This fuels their individual growth and success in psychology, and helps build a world with more inclusive and diverse representation in the field, better reflecting our communities.
Support can help students like Jasmindeep Kaur, whose lived experiences motivated her research on cultural identity, belonging, and mental health. Through the PIE Fund’s Early Research Award (ERA), Jasmindeep was better able to dedicate herself to her research.
As a first-generation immigrant and woman of colour who has navigated financial and systemic barriers, Jasmindeep at times felt like an outsider in academia. Now she views her background as a strength, not a barrier.
“In addition to funding my research, the award has strengthened my belief that students like me belong in these spaces; and that with the right support, we can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the field. As a result of all the amazing opportunities I have landed through the ERA, I believe I now have a profound sense of empowerment—the confidence to see myself not only as a student of psychology, but as a growing researcher within it.”

Give to the Psychology Inclusive Excellence Student Fund to expand research experience access and create a robust community of emerging scholars.
