Shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions affect millions of people and can have a profound impact on independence, work and quality of life. Yet many commonly used treatments still lack strong evidence about when they work best, who benefits most and how they compare to alternatives.
At the UBC Faculty of Medicine, we aim to ensure people receive the best possible care in the community. By conducting high-quality research, we can identify the safest and most effective treatment approaches, reduce unnecessary procedures, shorten recovery times and help people return to daily life with less pain and better function. To achieve this goal, the UBC Division of Upper Extremity in the Department of Orthopaedics is launching a dedicated Upper Extremity Orthopaedic Research Program.
Our team of clinician-scientists is ready to lead this work, but seed funding is needed to establish a patient registry and support outcomes-focused clinical research that informs surgical techniques, implant design and rehabilitation. By making a gift at this formative stage, you will help build capacity to attract grants, partnerships and large-scale investment now and in the future.
Together, we will build a sustainable research platform at UBC that accelerates discovery, advances evidence-based practice and helps people regain function, independence and quality of life after upper extremity injury and disease.
